Lost Gold Rush Towns of Sacramento opens a new chapter in our city’s historiography. The authors propose that some untoward business dealings (albeit mostly still unknown) may have contributed to certain early suburbs disappearing from the face of the earth – and then from memory. Even the maps of these neighboring communities have mostly vanished.
